The world is in trouble Somewhere larger, smaller elsewhere, but many problems are common to the entire international community. Therefore, under UN leadership, 193 states agreed in 2015 on 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which set our priorities by 2030. Its a big challenge. For example, the goal is to eradicate poverty, eliminate gender inequalities or successfully combat climate change.
Setting a goal is the first step. The identification of ways to fulfill it is logically another phase. The Czech Republic has therefore developed the Czech Republic’s 2030 strategic framework in which it has translated global objectives into Czech soil. In July, the Czech Republic’s representatives will present the way we achieve our goals directly at the UN’s Political Forum on Sustainable Development. Taťána Gregor Kuchařová, chairman of the board of directors and founder of the Beauty of Help Foundation, will also visit New York to represent the non-profit sector.
In addition, the Czech Republic is currently the Vice-Presidency of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the third most important body of this global organization. It is highly likely that it will take over the presidency from July 2017.
The Political Forum on Sustainable Development will be the highlight of this year. It is during the summit that a voluntary national review of the implementation of the SDGs will take place.
“It is an honor for me and my foundation. It is not only a prestigious but also an important event and we believe that it will again be a significant and positive cooperation between us, the non-profit organization, the government and the private sector on an interesting society-wide theme. The Czech Republic has the opportunity to present itself in good light at the UN. It should definitely not fit in, we have something to be proud of, ”says Taťána Gregor Kuchařová.
“Engaging in an official delegation is also an important feedback to us that the theme we are dealing with for 9 years resonates and makes sense,” he continues.
“We greatly appreciate the fact that the government has invited us to cooperate and that it is aware of the importance of cross-sectoral cooperation, not only to meet the objectives of SDGs. The contribution of effective cooperation between sectors and disciplines is also one of the important messages we want to convey with our performance, ”adds the only Czech Miss World.
Representatives of the private sector, Robin Dufek of JRK Biowaste, will also participate in the presentation alongside the government and the foundation. The delegation will be led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Environment Richard Brabec.
Also, the collaboration will continue after the presentation. It is important for everyone to get involved in meeting the commitments that the international community has made. Getting a goal in the wider awareness of people is a difficult task that faces all of us.
